Scale Models

There has been a considerable following for scale models for many generations. Certainly model planes became popular after the second world war, when the actually military included model aircraft in their training sessions. These models caught on with the general public, and hobby kits started selling well. But their were models of military equipment long before this. In 1913 SF Author H.G. Wells published a book on using models as part of a gaming system, which led on to the popular hobby of miniature war-gaming. But we could see precursors to this in other games, like chess.

Scale models exist in several different field, and cover all sorts of vehicles and objects. Some of these include:

Hobby model making – people like to make models of race cars, airplanes, SF ships …etc.
Architectural models that depict proposed buildings, and their surroundings.
Museums that wish to exhibit realistic depictions of historic vehicles and machines.
Aircraft research, realistically shaped models are used in wind-tunnels for research and testing purposes.
Model trains are a popular hobby, and include realistic landscapes, vehicles and tiny figurines.

Model Trains

Model trains have had a steady following ever since the first trains appeared. These include some of the most detailed models and surroundings, with owners personalizing many of the details. This personalizeation has increased in recent years as 3D printing and computer printed decals became available to the general public.

Model Decals

Virtually the only way to apply tiny details to models, text, flags, insignia…etc., is with decals. in the past these were pre-made and included in model kits, hobbyist had little choice in what they used on their scale models. But waterslide decals on inkjet decal paper has changed this. almost any decent computer and printer can create completely original decals, allowing hobbyist unlimited ability to customize their hobby creations.

Scale Model Decals

Consider decals for your hobby. Inkjet decal paper allows you to print and apply anything you can create on a computer screen.
