I want to make some decals for my slot car bodies molded from clear lexan plastic and I would be applying the decals on the inside of the body and then painting over them from the inside also. Would the film free decal paper work in this application or would it be better to use say the thin filmed paper?

I would strongly recommend the acrylic decal paper, https://drdecalmrhyde.com.au/shop/plastic-model-decal-paper/ rather than the film free decal paper which requires 200C heat treatment. The acrylic decal paper will suit your needs as it sticks well and the edges will be almost invisible.
